He also took an active interest in international volunteerism, participating in both the Passion to Heal program, a dermatology mission trip to Kenya, and as recipient of the American Academy of Dermatology international travel grant to Gabarone, Botswana to help serve the dermatologic needs of the local communities. During his Chief year, Dr. Patel help start the dermatology division of Worth Street Clinic, a free clinic established to provide free care to those in need.
